Nathan Cyprys is an emerging photographic and film artist based in Toronto, Ontario. He is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art & Design’s Photography program. His work is often personal as it explored the ephemeral, alienation and transitory states; always rooting itself in his own understanding of the human condition.

Artist statement:
In buried Nathan Cyprys is engaged in a performance, collaborative and displaced within nature. The artist is shown most often after digging a hole in the earth then crawling inside it naked, symbolic of both out unavoidable mortality and his attempt of rebirth. These absurd acts become in some way an exercise in escapism of death. Placing himself within these autumnal wombs, Cyprys is engaging in a childish play that art allows one to reconnect with. He seeks out a return to s past he was once familiar with, a vehement attempt at grasping hold of our ephemeral existence.
