Los Molles House by dRN Arquitectos. Located in Cachagua, V Region, Chile.
The irony of not having direct view of the ocean on a seaside house appears as a possibility for orienting this beach house towards a more unexpected landscape. The open horizon of the Pacific has been replaced by the view the near hillsides to the west, and to the protected space defined by a group of preexisting trees. This independent backyard, isolated from the intense summer life of the beach town of Cachagua, offers a calmed retreat to take distance from the city. Here, the close relation to topography stimulates spontaneous exterior circulations between rooms, giving the same relevance to the interior life of the house as to the exterior events, trying to enhance the informal condition of the beach house and the possibility of a life “outdoors”.

Beautiful. Not quite a “beach house”, personally I would prefer this for the city, but nice work.
Definitely a wonderful use of space. I love the general “wide screen” aspect ratio of everything, it sets the ocean horizon in the living spaces. I would have liked to see variation in the wall and ceiling materials, although I like the brightness of the wood paneling. It is a simple concept that attracts me. The stony incline between the 2 sections reminds me of a boat ramp.
